Minnesota Teen Gives Up Sleep for Pledges During Four-Day Insomniac Spree
(Champlin, Minnesota) December 03, 2002 - The basic of all human functions is sleep. No one knows why we need sleep but we all need it. One Minnesotan teen came up with the unique idea to trade sleep for pledges to help raise money for a local charity.
The event, appropriately named "92 HOURS," is the sole idea of Michael Demopoulos, creator of S@MTRON TECH, a video creation and graphic design studio.
The site, www.92hours.org, features a page for pledgers, a store, and other ways to help out with the project. An about the 92 HOURS idea page and a list of rules the Michael Demopoulos will adhere to during the lock down. Throughout the entire time he will remain on AOL Instant Messenger and within viewing distance of the web cams at durning the event.
All donations will be accepted. Pledging is easy. The pledger completes a form and then receives a login name and password from 92 HOURS via email so they may join the global Web broadcast.
The event will start on April 14th, 2002 and will go 92 hours from the start time (TBA)
The location of 92 HOURS is unknown at this time, but will be announced on www.92hours.org once it is finalized.
